About

I am currently a nursing student in the Bachelor Program at New York City College of Technology in New York. I am an international student from Senegal. I do speak four different languages ( French, English, Wolof, and Spanish). My father brought me to the United States to have a better education. He was my sponsor, but he passed away in September 2017. When I arrived in the USA back in January 2013, I didn't speak any English. The first time I went to my college, I had an interpreter who helped me to communicate with the international student advisor because of my language barrier. To achieve my goals, I had to study so hard. It was not easy, especially when you are in a foreign country, away from your family/loved ones. It always took me more time to apprehend my courses when I studied at home. It paid off because I used to get the highest grades in some of my classes such as Human Anatomy/Physiology, Math, and Microbiology classes. Two years after I came to the USA, I earned my first associate degree with GPA greater than 3.50. In 2016, I earned my certificate in Licensed Practical Nursing, and I passed the board exam on my first try.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I am currently studying to get my bachelor in nursing. I have one associate degree in general study and one in applied science. I also have a certificate in Licensed Practical Nursing, and I worked as a LPN in NYC from. I did home care for a few years in NYC, and I loved it. I worked for White Glove Community Care agency, and I earned an award of excellence in reliability, caring and professionalism back in 2017. I was a member of the honor society Phi Theta Kappa in 2018. I want to work in a pediatric hospital because I love kids, and most of the hospitals require a bachelor's degree.

Graduate school interests

My main focus is to complete my bachelor and go from there.

Outside the classroom

One of my favorite things to do is cooking. I am always thinking about how to create new dishes. That being said, I also like to do groceries.
