Favour Okoro

Hi there! My name is Favour Okoro. I am 20 years old, and a full time student at Houston Community College. I am currently completing Nursing prerequisites as I intend to transfer to a four-year university to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. It was not easy deciding what I wished to do with my life, which subject to study in university, or which career path to follow. On most days it's a challenge deciding what to wear to the grocery store, not to talk of the daunting task of making a huge life decision that will determine the next five to ten years of my life. I explored many careers including: being a Psychologist, a Historian, a Social Worker, and a United Nations representative. One thing I did know however, was that I wanted a career in the humanitarian field - something to do with serving people. So, I found that Nursing is the best fit for me. I have found peace in knowing that I am not only enriching myself academically, but I am essentially studying how to change lives and impact the world with the simple, but yet invaluable gift of caring. I have always loved school, and everything that comes with being a student. I admire the teachers that I've had throughout my schooling life (most of them), the different people I meet each day, friendships, and even the school lunch. Education is a personal asset that can never be taken away.
