About

I am a Greek immigrant and my parents always emphasized education since they both were illiterate. I have always dreamed of being a teacher so I could help students achieve their goals. I currently teach social studies in an urban high school in downtown Indianapolis. I love teaching high school students as they are so eager to learn and get into the world. I try to provide them with tools that will help my inner city students understand that they can overcome any obstacle with the proper education. I am a social studies teacher but I also wear many different hats to help all my students succeed. I try to teach my students that their environments and sometimes tough backgrounds don't define them. I am currently completing my masters program in Education Leadership as I feel this is the next level I need to be to provide new exceptional pathways for my students. I want to begin working with students from a new perspective, different level, and hopefully this will provide more opportunities for them to succeed once they graduate and proceed to their lives beyond high school.

Outside the classroom

I love to do outdoor activities such as gardening, walking, fishing. My passion is to grow natural foods as gardening is an art form and teaches discipline and patience. It challenges me as a person to try new things to better our environment. Being an outdoor person, I discovered that our bees were endangered so I studied on how to to help them. This inspired me to become a bee keeper to help save more bees and to allow natural pollination to continue to occur.
