About
Introduction
Greetings and Salutations,
My name is Freddie Thompson and I am beginning my journey to become a State Trooper. I work for Texas Department of Criminal Justice and have been employed for the state for 18 years now. My major is Criminal Justice and I am working to obtain my Associate's Degree. Eventually, I plan on pursuing my Bachelor’s degree. I have managed to obtain a 4.0 GPA so far and continue to push forward through the struggles that life can bring. I’ve had a few little bumps in the road, having been depressed, I have my moments from time to time, but I am going to do what I can to proceed.
I lost my brother in a car accident in June 09, 2015; even though he was really close, we had no control and was upset for a long time, but the month of August 15, 2015, my mother was feeling ill and just fell out on the bed. Mom did not make it to the ER in time; she had past five days after my parents 50th wedding anniversary. My father had been taking it kind of rough those few months. Furthermore, My Family and I have been trying to make ends meet due to the un-expectancy of mother’s death. I just wanted to inform someone, even though I have many tasks that keep me busy, my mother passing has been weighing on me along with my brother’s accident, but I’m willing to stay focused and attempt to finish. Shortly one month after, my father was diagnosed with fast cell growing lung cancer and has been going to continual Chemotherapy treatments. The Cancer has spread to 3 different types from lung, bone, and spread to his back. He has not been able to eat. It is tough to juggle life and your long term goals but it is doable.
My father had passed away on August, 07, 2016 due to the Cancer that was irreversible. Most people would think, that a story that diverse and tragic would be easily thought up to call in for work, but I assure you it is true and can be extremely overwhelming. I manage to keep my grades high simply because I needed a place to escape from reality, and school and studies actually kept me focused on pursuing, not just my goals and dreams, but my parents as well.
In 2015, I began my journey toward my Arts Degree, but I’m going to do my best to fulfill my parent’s dream of becoming a Texas State Trooper. I plan on returning to my parent’s grave-site to take my hat off, looking up to say “Mom & Dad, I did it.” Who knows what path the Lord will lead me? I’ll have to stay focused on the task at hand, but I’ll do my best to accomplish the goals that are set before me, and I am willing to set the standards as high as I can in order to fulfill my family’s dream. I will become the person my parents molded me to be.
I have completed my Law Enforcement Certificate & Corrections Certificate and plan to graduate with my Associate's Degree by the Spring Semester of 2019 or the Semester Before.
Thank You for understanding for hearing me out.
