About

With a passion for media of all sorts, I am a junior Communications student at Adelphi University working towards a career in video production. After attending New Rochelle High School and beginning my college career undecided, I took some communications courses and quickly found myself fascinated by the process of film and television production. It is very interesting to see how the Internet has changed the media so drastically; websites such as YouTube and Buzzfeed specifically have transformed video overall. After choosing my major- Communications, with a concentration in Digital Production and Cinema Studies- I became more and more immersed in my area of study.
I am particularly interested in short documentaries about social injustices such as racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia. I think that video is the perfect way of communicating these important issues to our generation as we become increasingly reliant on images rather than words. I enjoy editing and would like to learn a lot more about it, as well as lighting and other aspects of production.

Goals and interests

Career goal

After I receive my B.A. in Communications, I would like to begin my career with a job in editing, hopefully acquired through a previous internship, and work towards a career in cinematography.

Outside the classroom

I have always had a wide range of interests and hobbies. For example, my entire life, I've greatly enjoyed drawing and cartooning. I spend my free time sketching and designing original characters, and over the last couple years, I've become increasingly interested in the art of animation. I pass a lot of time browsing the internet and looking at different animation styles and techniques, and I have drawn a lot of inspiration from Japanese and American artists. I am currently saving up to purchase a tablet so that I can learn to animate and hopefully incorporate it into my videos. I'm also very fascinated by true crime, and I enjoy researching and watching videos about it; my go-to is a YouTuber named Rob Dyke, who hosts several short series about true crime and unsolved mysteries. Contrary to this, I've also been playing sports most of my life. I played a year of lacrosse on Adelphi's Division II team, and while I stopped playing to focus on my courses and internships, I still enjoy playing in my free time. Being an eBoard member of Adelphi's Mosaic club has also taken up a large portion of my free time. I was the Event Coordinator during my sophomore year, and have since moved up to Secretary. This club has given me the opportunity to interact with a diverse group of people, learn about different cultures and identities, and find power in our differences.
