About
My academic experience has taken a very unusual route. As a teenager, I raised kids (2 nieces & 1 nephew) instead of going to school. I grew up in Mexico and learned what I could on my own. Obtained my GED within 3 months of arriving to the US, and when I became a US resident, I began studying at a community college. Afterwards I fell ill for several years, and did my best to just get by working in food service. I became passionate about social change through all I experienced and witnessed, and began studying social movements, as well as history of various countries in Latin America. I am a visual artist, as well as a poet and love beauty and literature. I combined these passions into my own voice and feel confident in my expression. I made the decision to return to college because I felt it would help me make a bigger impact, and am now in my second semester at Cornell University. I am excited about being here and very thankful for the opportunity to study so many wonderful subjects and learn from so many people here. I'm in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and my major is Development Sociology.
