About
I am a nursing major with a focus in nutrition. My professional goal, my goal as a nurse and nutritionist, is to educate specific people groups, groups with an increased risk or presence of nutrition related diseases, on appropriate food selection, preparation, and consumption. Currently, I am a nursing student at the University of Texas Arlington, my approximate date of graduation is May 2020. As an "army brat", I have had the opportunity to travel to different states and countries; this experience has given me the ability to not only adapt to any situation, but also the ability to be able to communicate and work with people of different backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures. The military experience has allowed me to witness first hand the different economic, familial, emotional, and physical situations of people--this experience has given me the discipline, as well as the motivation and determination to help relieve people of one main factor which may affect all other aspects of life: negative physical health.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
I plan on being a travel nurse who will focus on areas with large populations of minorities with an increased risk or presence of nutritional diseases (such as obesity, diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease). After much research, I have found that many diseases may be prevented, and even cured, by changing food, preparation, and eating habits. Since there is an increase, particularly in America, in diseases caused by the inappropriate consumption and choice of foods (especially among minority groups), I plan on focusing on the nutritional habits and practices of Latino, Polynesian, and Native American communities.
- Graduate school interests
After I graduate with my bachelor's degree, I plan on applying for a job in Hawaii, Los Angeles, or Albuquerque. Where I get a job, is where I plan on completing my master's degree-- I plan on working my way through graduate school, that way I will be able to afford my schooling and I will be able to practice my profession.
- Outside the classroom
I love music and photography. I have been in band and have played instruments since fifth grade. I have played trumpet, piano, violin, and clarinet (I continue to play clarinet); I have also been in choir. I love art--I am an avid painter and drawer. Exercise is a passion of mine--I love to swim and dance, and thoroughly enjoy being outside. Being a military child, I have moved to different states and countries quite frequently; this constant movement has caused me to develop a love of traveling and other cultures. I am obsessed with learning about different countries and cultures and traditions. I enjoy reading; my favourite books are British fiction novels, as well as books about law and culture.
