About
I am a 35 year old divorced, single mother who is starting my life over again. After I was divorced, working as a mortician, which was my first degree (BA) and first career choice, was no longer an option, as I would be called out during the night for removals. After a few years trying to figure out what field would allow me to balance both family and career, I decided to go with Health Information Management, and get a Master's degree. I started online classes at the College of St. Scholastica in fall of 2020.
I have a daughter who is in Pre-K, and we are both learning to navigate distance learning. When I am not helping her during class with the teacher via her IPad, then I am helping her with her school work, and reviewing her numbers, colors, shapes, and ABC's.
I also am caretaker to both my elderly parent who have chronic health issues (chronic heart failure, other major heart issues, and diabetes). Because of their age and health issues, I help them with some activities of daily living, such as dressing, hygiene, grocery shopping, and medication pick up. I also help them with snow removal (snow blowing/shoveling), mowing the lawn, laundry, and some cooking.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
I plan to graduate from the HIM program at the College of St. Scholastica, located in Duluth, MN, by the end of summer 2022. After I graduate I hope to find a job at one of the local hospitals in the Iron Range area. After a few years of work experience, I plan to move to the New England states and make the area my permanent home.
- Outside the classroom
When I am not busy with school, I give my time to my four year old daughter. We love to go for walks, play in the dirt (we have five flower gardens and one large vegetable garden)and plant flowers, bulbs, or veggies. If we are not found playing in the dirt, we love to color with sidewalk chalk, water paints, and paper crafts.
When I am not doing activities with my daughter, I love to read mystery books, swim, paint, and spend time with my friends where we enjoy kid-free time and a glass of wine.
