About

My name is Grace Mbakop and i am currently a UMBC student. I live in Maryland and it been five years that i moved to the United States. I am originally from Cameroon, a country found in the central Part of Africa. I moved to the U.S when i was 16 years old and from there i started High school. By the age of 18, i graduated from high and i attended a community college in my city. After two years of hard work, i was blessed enough to get an Associate Degree in Biochemistry. From there i transferred to one of most prestigious university in Maryland ( University of Maryland Baltimore County) where i am now studying Biological Science and Sociology. I am currently a Junior transitioning into My senior Year in college. After my bachelor degree i intend to go into a PA school, preferably the PA program school of Towson University. One of the main question that i usually get from my peers has to do with what is behind my career path. Well i choose to be a PA because i am a very caring person, who shows a deep concern when it comes to other people health. Moreover, coming from a country where i have seen human rights being violated, human being dying due to the lack of care, and a health care system which lacks serious improvement, i feel a constant need to be among the ones that will bring some improvement back to my country. One of my biggest dream is to be able to open an orphanage as well as a clinic back home. I am aware of the fact that one person effort might not be enough to repair the mistakes that had been done in the past, however i strongly believe that giving a try is better than sitting aside and letting the past mistakes being perpetuate. Moreover studying sociology also gave me a better sense of understanding. Coming from a total different culture and having to learn and understand other societies gives me a better sense of how the world works. With such a degree also , i intend to hopefully be able to educate children back in my country on the importance of learning about other society, the importance of knowing their human rights, the importance of understanding people behavior and most importantly the importance of having an open mind.

Outside the classroom

one of the thing that i love the most is to dance. Dancing is another passion of mine. I also enjoy traveling, drawing, spending time with my family and friend. Moreover learning different languages is also very fun to me. Now i am trying to learn more about Spanish. In the past i spent four years studying Spanish, but because i am more fluent/ advance in English and French the little knowledge that i acquire started fading away, so now i decided to get back on track. I also love designing clothes , doing hair and cook.
