About

My name is Hannah Baldwin and I am an undergraduate student at Casper College. I am a Wildlife and Fisheries Biology Management major working on associate and bachelor degrees to become a Big Game biologist soon. I'm a well-organized student very dedicated to my academics and have passion and integrity for my work. I have participated in many different clubs and organizations since high school and have continued in college, including the National Honors Society, National Society for High School Scholars, National Society of Leadership and Success, Phi Theta Kappa, Science Olympiad, and others. I have been in charge of many different community service and public service events such as fundraisers, banquets, and special charity events. I have a deep interest in biology, biological processes and the way nature entwines itself with all things. I love learning about plants, animals, and habitats, and I'm fascinated with all of the processes they go through within an ecosystem. I am an avid reader and writer and enjoy English, history, philosophy, astronomy, and similar topics outside of my major. I also have a deep history and fervor for music, art, and language, as I was a devoted musician and artist in high school. I am honored to officially be a part of the Honor Society and appreciate all of the opportunities gifted to me by being a member.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I am working on associate and bachelor degrees in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology Managment because I want to pursue a career with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department as a Big Game biologist. As a Big Game biologist I will be working with common Game species of Wyoming: mule deer, white-tailed deer, elk, moose, mountain lions, wolves, bears, etc. I will also help inform and educate the public of these species, making efforts to protect the animals, habitats, and citizens of Wyoming.

Graduate school interests

As a future graduate student, I want to focus on population dynamics, conservation projects, and habitat protection for predators and game species such as mountain lions, wolves, bears, and other similar species. I am interested in the research and study of cervid and bovid diseases such as Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) and Brucellosis, which are major conservation management topics in the field. I am also curious about predation and depredation studies, specifically those between Big Game species and livestock.

Outside the classroom

I love reading and my favorite genre is fantasy/fiction, but I'm also very intrigued by nature and wildlife, especially interesting research papers about local wildlife and conservation plans. My favorite book series are Lord of the Rings, Percy Jackson, C.J. Box, and anything Charles Dickens, Rick Riordan, Tolkien, or James Rollins. I enjoy reading comics, and I'm an avid Marvel and Star Wars fan, as well as a reader of webcomics; my favorite is Bluechair.
I enjoy watching Disney movies, documentaries, and anything about the universe or space. I also like to watch anime because it helps me with my Japanese skills, along with Duolingo, and it's hilarious.
I am a history buff and enjoy learning about the Vikings, their culture, and their language; I can write in Old Futhark Runic. I also enjoy studying Medieval eras of history, as well as Women's history and the impact of evolution on different species. I'm curious about ancient civilizations from Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Greece.
Another hobby of mine is jewelry making and metal working, mainly involving beads and wire, though sometimes stones to craft rings, bracelets, and necklaces with.
I enjoy and appreciate art, both mine and the master's. Most of the time I love drawing animals, but also people and landscapes, and I work with different mediums.
I have a deep knowledge and appreciation for different kinds of music, musicians, bands, and the inspiration and stories behind them. I'm a bit of a music historian and know a lot about different genres from the baroque period well into the early 2000s and everything in-between, though my specialties are 1970-1980 disco and heavy metal genres, and also 2000-present day nu, thrash, and heavy metal bands.
I love completing puzzles, writing stories and character descriptions, and I am a fan of philosophical quotes and philosophers, my favorites being Aristotle, Nietzsche, Sartre, and Beauvoir.
I love being outside, working with my hands on crafty and technical projects, and enjoy being around books and cats. I'm also no stranger to hard work, and enjoy intelligent, meaningful conversations.
