About

Transfer student from Colorado School of Mines (August 2013 to May 2015, GPA 3.3) to University of Wisconsin - Madison (September 2015 to present). Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry through the College of Letters and Sciences. My goals as an undergraduate student is to be challenged academically while participating in research at one of the world's greatest research universities. After college, I intend to work in a research laboratory full time to explore my specific interests and talents in biochemical research; then, after a few years, pursue those facets in graduate school. When I am not shutting down the library on a Saturday night, I am cooking dinner with friends, walking around beautiful Madison, WI, or adventuring in the Rocky Mountains back home in Colorado.

Goals and interests

Career goal

In college, I have had the opportunity to work as an undergraduate researcher, which has greatly challenged me to apply my book smarts to cutting edge research. I spend approximately 10-13 hours per week in the lab, working under graduate students and my Principle Investigator to learn new techniques, interpret data, and get a taste of pursuing research as a career. After college, I intend to take my B.S. in Biochemistry with me to a research laboratory to work for a few years while I gather additional knowledge about what options interest me in research. From there, I hope to enroll in a PhD program and continue to push the frontiers of science.

Graduate school interests

I intend to go onto graduate school to pursue a PhD in a specialized area that will accelerate my personal scientific interests.

Outside the classroom

Skiing, hiking, going on walks, listening to podcasts, traveling.
