Hannah Soucy

I am currently pursuing a Bachelors in Fine Arts at Keene State College in New Hampshire. I'm planning to be a high school art teacher or photography professor. My hopes are to volunteer in the Peace Corps before I continue on to Grad School and teaching. I want to help students find their creativity and passion as well as help those in need all over the world. I am currently employed at the L.P. Young Student Center Information Desk at Keene State, which is extremely helpful in knowing what is happening on campus as well as informing and keeping my peers involved. I was recently hired as a Resident Assistant here at Keene State which gives me another amazing way to connect with other students and aid them in finding what they may be missing in their time here in Keene. Staying connected is extremely important and I want to help make it happen beyond the computer screen although I am open to all avenues. I hope to take advantage of all the resources available to me at this small but flourishing school and am still discovering great organizations and volunteer programs to take part in.
I come from one of the hardest working single parents I know, my mother, who has worked in New Hampshire at two High school Special Education Departments and a local University's Continuing Education Department. I'm proud to say I'm taking after her ruthless efforts to make anywhere she goes a better, more positive atmosphere and workplace. Growing up I babysat or nannied for a variety of economic backgrounds from 2006 to the present. I've mentored a teenage boy with ADHD and Anger Management issues, I've worked with all ages, and I've worked at a two-month overnight summer camp as the camp's Photographer and camp counselor. Also, being from a small town and having many connections back home, I have multiple jobs where I help out whenever they need me. The jobs range from any position in a restaurant, to working at local family owned Candy Store, to a local family run Antique Car Show and babysitting for several families. My freshman year at college I was part of Hall Council, a club soccer team and an environmental outing club. I played Soccer, Basketball, Track & Field, and Field Hockey from k-12 but found myself enjoying other opportunities much more here at college. For example, working on a wide variety of projects with my professors and peers, clubs, and being involved at work. I plan on intertwining the skills I learn in my degree and volunteering to help people in ways I know best, hard work, a vigorous imagination, and vivacity.
