Harland Mims

I'm a hard working young man whose goal is to work my way up into the Civil Engineering industry. My long term goal is to become a Supervisor and/or Project Manager.

As a current student I've learned what it takes to be an engineer as well as the business aspect of the career. I'm now presenting more on topics to help me prepare for the future workforce with team members so that we may understand the importance of teamwork. My current internship has also taught me how much time I will be working to be an engineer. I understand the importance of note taking and documenting everything I'm aware of. With the help of my class learning as well as my experience in the field, I plan on using my knowledge to help better me once I start my career full term. I graduate in August and I'm ready for the task ahead.

I'm currently employed in Hospitality here at Texas Tech. I've been here since 2014 and since then I have received two employee appreciation awards. My goal is not for self satisfaction but to ensure that my boss looks good by working as hard as I can. I take pride in the work that I do and I plan on carrying that to my engineering career.
