My involvement in community service and leadership activities have been a crucial component of my journey, aligning perfectly with being an effective leader and with the emphasis on building and service. I started two service businesses, one in my 10th grade year and another in my 11th grade year. My lawn and car detailing business were not only successful but I was able to help another brother along the way by employing him to assist me on the jobs. I continued to work in the church nursery and volunteer in an afterschool program. It all clicked to me that I enjoy working with others and helping people. This is what led me to thinking about a future in physical therapy. I saw how doctors, nurses, and physical therapists treated me as a person and how helpful they were to me. One physical therapist in particular reminded me that I was still an athlete. My path is just different now. I want to be that person for someone else.
