About
Hello, my name is Haven McKinney, and I currently am a freshman majoring in Architectural Engineering at North Carolina A&T University. I have always been eager to grow in my passion of creation with a goal to travel and experience opportunities that can challenge and develop my knowledge in my field. I plan to continue my education at North Carolina A&T by pursuing my bachelor’s and master's degree.
Honors and awards
-
scholarship
Scholarship Recipient from The Chuck Burch Scholarship Fund founded by a North Carolina A&T Alumni. This organization freely, without application, awarded through their event for any support needed for school funding.
Goals and interests
- Career goal
I am mainly passionate about interior architecture and design. I am fascinated in designing interior spaces rather than mostly its outer look. With this degree, my goal is to broaden my knowledge through the technical understanding of the engineering aspect of architecture as well as to do further education specific in interior architecture. I plan to first start in architectural engineering, get my master's as well at A&T, then major in architecture and do a concentration in interior architecture and design through a PhD degree. Overall, this discipline will exponentially deepen my knowledge in architecture while showing how engineering is interlinked with it.
- Graduate school interests
Obtaining my master's degree in architectural engineering. I hope to broaden my global perspective and gain practical experience by participating in a summer study abroad program. This is especially important to me because I plan to live and build my career in another country, and I want to develop the familiarity and cultural understanding that will prepare me for that exciting journey. Additionally, I want to obtain an internship while I'm studying.
