Heather E. Simmons

Twenty-two years ago, after attending Oregon State University for almost four years in pursuit of a BFA in Graphic Design, life lead me away from school with only two terms to graduate. Since then I have worked in retail, administration in medical device manufacturing, medical sales, finance and chiropractic. The last seven plus years has been spent working as a Chiropractic Assistant in a highly specialized Atlas Orthogonal clinic in Tacoma, WA. Between my position as a CA, and working alongside our lead doctor in collaboration with neutraceutical biotechnology, knowledge of health, the human body, its processes, and how to maintain wellness has become a very strong gifting in my life. Two years into the fledgling career, my husband became deathly ill. Allopathic treatment proved ineffective therefore leaving me no choice but to find answers on my own. Now, five years later, my husband is functional and almost completely healed. However, the knowledge and understanding gained has proven even more valuable. I have been blessed to offer suggestion under doctor supervision to our patients with great success. This eight year journey prompted me to go back to school to earn my doctorate as a fully AMA accredited Naturopathic Physician. Changing my major to Medical Humanities and the Arts, I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree at Oregon State University as a straight "A" student in July 2015. Today, while working to fulfill prerequisite coursework required by AMA accredited naturopathic colleges, I continue to be awed by the nature of the human body and deeply look forward to becoming Dr. Heather Simmons. At this season in life, making a difference in the lives of others has become far more intriguing than simply earning a living.
