About

I am Herschel Hoehne a dedicated and passionate artist studying here at Ohio University. Since high school I have had a deep drive to work hard for what I want and need by doing the things I tell people I will do and my putting forth the extra effort to exceed expectations. Through the constructive criticism and influences of family, friends, teachers, and coaches I have gained a mentality that allows for my ambitions to become realities in not only the jobs I have had, but my artwork as well. As always when I am given the opportunity to complete a task with the final result of my work bringing a sense of joy to others this is what ultimately drives me to progress in whatever I do.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Although I chose to study a field that is known for being extremely difficult to make a career out of I am optimistic that the hard work I put in will bring fourth the opportunities necessary to succeed as an artist. Still I am unsure what exactly I am striving to do, but my interests shed some light on a potential path. As of now my artwork relates to the "green" movement that has been finding its way throughout the United States. My research on green roofing, vertical gardens (green walls), and horticulture has allowed me to create forms out of clay that express plant life and ways in which these forms can be utilized as a structure in which to grow these forms of life. So, in the future, before or after undergraduate school, I would like to move to Chicago for at least a summer where I would be able to do an artist residency and get a job that has to do with the "green" movement to gain a deeper understanding of the more sustainable ways in which us people in the United States can live their day to day lives. Chicago being the biggest supporter of this movement gives me much optimism toward completing my goals.

Graduate school interests

As of now I do not intend on going to grad school. I think that until I get out of undergrad school and establish myself I will not know whether or not this is a path I will take.
