About
My name is Holly Harjo. I am 20 years old, and I attend Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. I am a Creek Nation citizen. My planned course of study is speech language pathology. For as long as I can remember, I have loved learning and aiding others in their own learning journey. Throughout my academic career I have served in leadership positions, peer tutoring programs, and positions where I have advocated for increased opportunities for indigenous students. There is no greater satisfaction than watching others do what they thought impossible. I am committed to being an ally and motivator to all; I want people to feel comfortable expressing themselves and pursuing their goals and dreams. Through a career in speech pathology, I will have the opportunity to support and guide others through their respective challenges and struggles.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
My peer tutoring experience is how I realized I wanted to be a pediatric speech pathologist. I would like to graduate from Northeastern State University with an undergraduate degree in communication sciences and disorders. I then would like to pursue a master’s degree in speech language pathology and become a licensed speech-language pathologist. I have always admired the educators in my life and those who helped shape me into the confident, life-long learner I am today. I would like to be a supportive guide for children of all ages and backgrounds who struggle with speech mechanisms and language development. I would like to help them to be kind to themselves, appreciate their differences, find confidence in themselves, and to never stop learning new things. I want the children I help to not only have refined speech, but to have enough confidence to use their voice to pursue their curiosities. Children are our future, and they cannot fulfill their potentials and dreams without a great support system guiding them through their tribulations. My dream is to become a speech-language pathologist in a pediatric setting. I am so proud to be a part of the Creek Nation, and I would be honored to become a speech pathologist for the Muscogee Creek Nation Health System someday.
- Graduate school interests
For my graduate studies, I wish to attend Northeastern State University and enroll in the masters program for speech-language pathology. Through this cohort, I would be able to begin the summer after I complete my junior year in my current program; this would be approximately 2024 due to my accelerated speech-pathology undergraduate program. My ultimate goal is to become a licensed speech-language pathologist.
- Outside the classroom
I love to read, tutor K-12 aged students, and to bake! There is nothing I enjoy more than learning new things. I love attempting new recipes, workouts, instruments, and crafts.
