Goals and interests

Career goal

I have an open mind about the path that I am wanting to have for a career. Some the options that spark my interest is working in high-impact sports like rodeos. I love the fast-paced environment and being able to care for more traumatic and catastrophic injuries. Another option that I would enjoy to have a career in are outreach communities. I love to travel and I have a passion for providing quality care in sports communities that do not receive much attention when it comes to sports-related treatments or rehabilitation for injuries in adolescents.

Graduate school interests

My main interests in grad school are all the different clinical sites that I get to work in each semester and learn new skills and techniques when providing care to different sports populations. So far, I have gotten to work men's baseball at Creighton University, spring sports at the local high school, observe what it is like to be in a Physician's family practice setting, UNMC Orthopedic surgery for the shoulder, and Ortho Nebraska Orthopedic outpatient clinic. I loved being able to see such diverse settings that athletic trainers can be a part of and actually make a difference in.

Outside the classroom

I enjoy being in the great outdoors, spending time at the beach with friends and family, and I love hiking the beautiful mountains of Hawaii.

Volunteering

  • Mentor for high school students in the Sports Medicine program. I answered any questions students had about the athletic training profession, what steps it took to get to where I am right now in my career, how to write an effective resume/cover letter, and assisted students in what it was like to sit for mock interviews.
