About
My name is Hunter Cairns, currently in my first year of BCOM at MacEwan University. I maintain a 3.93 GPA and plan to attain as many scholarships as possible to help fund my transfer into Vancouver's UBC Architecture program. I am currently 21. I am a passionate restaurant supervisor with a background in high volume dining, team leadership, and restaurant management. It took me years away from school to discover what it means to give your entire being in the pursuit of a passion, and I will stop at nothing to achieve the goals I've now set towards my education and my future.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
Through my Commerce degree at MacEwan, I intend to achieve the highest possible GPA to attain my acceptance to UBC's top architectural undergraduate program. This year is all about putting my nose to the grindstone, and learning all I can about scholarly writing, career-oriented lifestyles, and discovering my passion for deeper learning that is past anything I have felt before.
All my life I have seen the power a room or building can have over someone. The way that sunlight bouncing off the colours of the wall can bring an overwhelming sense of joy and energy, or how it can lead to absolute mind tearing frustration. My dream is to learn the skills required to design and construct spaces that can bring to others the same joy and energy that a simple room can have over myself.- Graduate school interests
Through the undergraduate program at UBC, I will be qualified to further my education past that and proceed into the master's program for architecture. This will be an amazing opportunity as the program resides in a province that is a frontrunner for the future of sustainable business practices and urban landscaping development.

For three years, I took part in the leadership program through my high school, where I aided in creating, planning, and executing our school-wide annual bikeathon. This included fundraising through bottle drives, corporate sponsorships, merchandise production and distribution, all of which were invested in the final donation. Furthermore, during the Bikeathon, we organized and ran schoolwide activities such as a midnight hallway slip and slide, haunted house ran in partnership with the theatre department, late nights spent at the school producing banners, living room layout per team, the 800 kids that participated in my organized scavenger hunt downtown with costumed actors running around, parkour performances, hypnotists, a yearly 2 am outdoor facilitated dance party, glow in the dark nerf wars, etc. My final year in the program allowed me and my teammates, who I could not have done any of this without, to lead the initiative by collectively planning and executing Canadas largest high school fundraiser. Our annual bikeathon initiative raised approximately $500,000 in 2017's Hope in Motion Campain for the Jack Davis Hope Foundation. Other years fundraisers I took part in organizing include: The Treehouse Project - $325,000 raised in 2015 Bike2Box Campaign - $450,000 raised in 2016
