Goals and interests
- Career goal
My ultimate aim is to become an educator and researcher, making contributions to both students and academia. Reaching for the challenge of achieving a doctoral degree is one of the steps I believe necessary for me to reach my goals. After obtaining my Ph. D. degree, I would like to apply for a position as a faculty member at a higher-level institution. I consider building an extensive knowledge of Hospitality Administration, as well as experiencing various activities related to this field in different surroundings, as a critical background for me to have in guiding future students.
- Graduate school interests
As I am a Ph.D. student at this moment, I would like to provide details of my research interests.
My thesis, The Influence of Airport Physical Environments on Customer Emotion and Customer Satisfaction, scrutinizes the valid relationship between the airport physical environments and customer satisfaction. It specifically looks into the physical surroundings, while revealing customer emotions as mediators, and highlights my other interests in the tourism industry – aviation. My previous job experience, as a part of the airline ticketing team, played a significant role in this becoming an interest of mine. I was also able to be aware of the fierce competition in the airline industry while I was completing my dissertation. As far as my knowledge goes, studies on physical environments of airports, airlines, and their effects on passengers and visitors are scarce. I believe the aviation industry, as one of the most fundamental components of outbound tourism, needs more profound investigation into why customers choose to fly in and out of certain airports or with certain airlines and what physical factors have an effect on customer decisions. I would like to continue expanding my research and contribute to academia in this way by not only containing my study to hospitality, but also to the tourism and aviation industries as well. Recently, I am greatly interested in peer-to-peer relationships in the hospitality and tourism industry.
