About (Summary)
As a passionate foster youth advocate and emerging political historian, my mission is to explore, document, and challenge the political structures and policies that have historically harmed — and occasionally helped — foster youth in the United States.

Grad School Interests
I am deeply committed to advocacy and civic engagement. I closely follow political developments in Washington, D.C. and Lansing, Michigan, and I currently serve on my college’s student council, where I work to foster a more inclusive environment for students in downtown Detroit. I am also building a TikTok platform dedicated to empowering foster youth, drawing from my own experiences to inspire and guide others.
In addition, I am in the process of authoring my first research paper, with the goal of contributing to important academic and policy conversations. Altogether, my journey reflects a blend of creativity, advocacy, and leadership that I hope to continue advancing in both professional and personal pursuits.
Intended Job Path
With lived experience and a critical eye on systemic inequities, I center my work on understanding how legislation, funding, leadership, and state systems intersect to shape the lives of youth in care. I aim to expose the root causes of injustice, elevate the voices of those most affected, and contribute to the development of ethical, youth-centered reforms.
My professional interests include:
* Historical and current child welfare policy analysis
* State and federal legislation affecting foster youth
* Youth-led reform and grassroots organizing
* Political accountability and transparency in child welfare systems
* Bridging historical research with present-day advocacy
I believe the future of foster care reform must be informed by both historical context and the real-time voices of youth impacted by the system. My goal is to be a bridge between the two — using historical research to hold systems accountable and push for lasting, meaningful change.
Hobbies
I am a multifaceted creative and advocate with passions that span from the arts to community leadership. In my free time, I enjoy cosplaying, attending conventions, reading, and playing video games. As a freelance model, I design and execute my own concept photoshoots, a creative outlet that allows me to merge storytelling with visual art. My experience includes competing in Miss Michigan Teen USA 2017, and I aspire to continue pursuing titles such as Miss Michigan USA or Miss Black USA.
