About

Hi My name is Iris Hurd and in may I graduated from both CCA and High school at the same time. Concurrent enrollment was such a unique experience and it really helped me reach all of my goals. to know more about me here is part of my personal college essay called weird in a good way:

Weird is a word that is used in a negative connotation. When someone is unique on the inside and doesn't fit the norms of society they are seen as “Weird”. When you look at someone and label them as weird you don't know what's going on inside. The person who you think is weird might be being abused at home. The person you think is weird might be trying to find out who they really are inside. When I am called weird, I take it as someone seeing me as not the same as everyone else. I am not a normal girl who likes the newest music and the newest fashion. I don't understand most of it and believe I was supposed to be born in the 50s. Why the 50s you ask? Because that means that in the 70s, I would be in my 20s roller-skating to earth wind and fire. I am that weird girl who likes music from the 70s and 80s. I am that weird girl who would rather listen to off on your own girl by al.b.sure than the newest meg the stallion song. I have been called weird all my life but instead of letting it discourage me I find the weird in myself and try to embrace it.

This "weird girl not only graduated with two degrees at the same time but I was also a cheerleader, an ambassador, a mentor to the 9th graders. one of the things I'm most proud of is being able to be the battalion commander over my JROTC Program. All of this while everyone called me weird and judged me because I am unique. So next time someone calls you weird say thank you and smile.
