Goals and interests
- Career goal
I am currently pursuing my M.S. in entomology with a focus on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) while working as a Biological Scientist (Lab Manager) for my mentor. I will be continuing on to pursue my PhD. in January of 2017.
- Graduate school interests
My master's thesis research is determining the types of injury thrips species can cause in Florida strawberry production and developing economic thresholds for these species as part of an IPM program that benefits producers. I am a strong advocate for the implementation of IPM practices in agriculture and farming, and I have a deep interest in utilizing natural resources to enhance beneficial insects and pollinator habitats. With the increase in food and safety, health, and economic concerns regarding agriculture, I believe this is a viable alternative that should be explored more heavily.
- Outside the classroom
My hobbies include dog rescue and fostering, gardening, painting/drawing, and reading.
