About
Isabella Mia Cardec was born at Langley Air Force Base in the early spring of 2008. Her parents, both natives of Puerto Rico, nurtured her bilingualism from before she was born, reading to her in both Spanish and English. This early exposure sparked a lifelong passion for literature and, admittedly, a tendency to avoid anything involving numbers.
Her summers have always been divided between Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, and wherever her father was stationed during his 21 years in the military. Now, her family of four (plus Ford Odinson Sinclair, the family’s beloved shih tzu) has settled in Virginia, where Isabella has spent her high school years and her younger brother, Alejandro Isai, has discovered a love for baseball.
Isabella dreams of studying Philosophy, Theology, English, and Journalism— while still finding time to attend the theatre weekly and travel the world. Once she figures out how to balance it all, she hopes to finally finish the novel she has been planning for years with a close friend.
You can often find her sipping Earl Grey tea and rereading Pride and Prejudice or Lovely War. If not, she is probably engaged in an animated dinner-table conversation on some random subject with her parents. She wishes for a closet full of Audrey Hepburn’s wardrobe and a nonstop 80’s music station, with occasional appearances from Taylor Swift and Laufey.
Her most prized possessions are her diary, her record player, and her book collection. Watching a movie with her can be an… acquired taste—she is a self-proclaimed movie critic who firmly believes in pausing to discuss the characters’ choices and the plot’s twists.
