Volunteering

  • I recently traveled to the Dominican Republic, Mustard Seed Hagar Immanuel Orphanage and worked alongside my pediatrician, Dr. Richard Ohnmacht providing medical care to forty-eight disabled and abandoned orphans. Taking vitals, handing out medication, examining x-rays and bandaging wounds were just a few of our roles. Providing empathy and bedside care, making a true effort to place myself in each child's shoes had a lasting impact on me. My work there created an innate desire to help people and care for them in times of need. I am a person who thrives on being challenged and putting others first so nursing suites me as few other careers offer. Since my time in the Dominican Republic, I have become a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant and enlisted in the Air Force where I currently serve as a Certified Dental Assistant in the Rhode Island Air National Guard 143d Medical Wing with the ability to travel the world helping others.
