About

I am currently a Freshman at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) pursing a degree in chemical engineering, going along the environmental and sustainability track. With this degree, I want to be a part of the progression towards alternative energy resources. At UMBC, I am currently the Freshman Representative for Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and I help plan SWE events as well as help with community service that we are involved in. I also have been working at JCPenney as a Sales Associate since last April 2015. Outside of UMBC I create music and write songs.

Goals and interests

Career goal

As of now, my goal is to pursue a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, along the Environmental and Sustainability Track. With this education, I would like to work towards using alternative energy resources, so that there is less harm done to the Earth from our current ways of generating energy. I have yet to be a part of any professional research, but I have been doing personal research and I have a lot of interest for solar energy and nuclear fission. These processes are intriguing and I feel that once they are refined and popularized a lot of good can come from them. Despite my interest for those two processes I am excited to learn about all of the processes that are being analyzed to harness energy and about how I can make a difference in that field.

Graduate school interests

I have a desire to go to graduate school, but right now, I am unsure of exactly what I would want to pursue in Grad School. I feel that after some experience and research, I will have more of an idea of where I want to go after obtaining my B.S..

Outside the classroom

Outside of school, I enjoy making music. I sing, play guitar, and write songs. I have been involved with performing arts since fourth grade, performing in musicals and school related concerts. As far as creating songs, I have been working with online synthesizing programs such as Audiosauna, Audacity, and LMMS to generate instrumental tracks and I have been writing my own lyrics and providing my own vocal track to the songs I create. So far, I have published a song called "Fade" to Soundcloud (follow link: https://soundcloud.com/jadacherie/fade), and I am currently working on a song with a partner.
