Jolene Aguilar

I am currently twenty-three years old and am in the middle of my third year of college at the University of Houston studying for a Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I began attending University of Houston in the fall semester of 2013, and have accumulated a GPA of 3.67. I never thought I would be one to attend a university seeing as I dropped out of high school at the age of seventeen and received my GED. I began attending college courses in the spring of 2010 in South Carolina, and moved to Houston in October 2010. I began attending Houston Community College in the fall semester of 2011 and was not that serious at first. Once I realized how much I enjoyed being a student again and what I could accomplish by doing so, I changed my mind frame and made obtaining a GPA of 3.5+ one of my first priorities, while continuing to work full time as a teacher assistant at a Montessori School for pre-kindergarten students. By doing so I have become a patient, motivated, and determined student with my academic success. I hope to use that academic success and determination to accomplish my dream of studying abroad in the spring semester of 2015. After my expected graduation date of May 2015, I plan on continuing my education to hopefully obtain a Masters or a Ph.D in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, which is the field of Psychology I have the most passion about. With the support of my family I have been encouraged to strive for what I believe in with school and continue on my goals of earning a career in the Industrial and Organizational Psychology field.
