Goals and interests

Career goal

Short Term Goal:
Continuously, my short-term goal is to complete all assignments within the time frame allotted each week. To do that, I put all due dates on my calendar at the beginning of the term and highlight them as I complete them. I will achieve this by viewing it one day at a time, particularly with our entire household currently battling illness. Finally, I will summarize my time here by earning straight A’s and finishing my final quarter with Rasmussen University. My goal with this current quarter is to maintain my G.P.A. and finish strong. I am steadfast in myself, believing nothing short of perfection is achievable. This will occur through studying, hard work, and putting forth one hundred percent effort in everything I do. I will know my short-term goals are complete when all my assignments are in before each deadline, all communication on my end is clear and timely, and my grades in the grade book reflect my efforts. I will also have finished my associate's degree at the end of this term. I will know this has been achieved when I receive my final invoice and diploma.

Midterm Goal:
In wishing to better my professional abilities, I will develop and grow my professionalism throughout this course. I will utilize my current and start a new professional network which may be helpful in the future. This may require me to open LinkedIn and other social media accounts for professionals. I will continue to save up money for unpaid fieldwork, observation time, and student teaching in the future. These are all requirements for a credentialed teaching licensure and are connected to my long-term goal. I’ll know this is being achieved when my savings account increases and the set amount my husband and I budgeted is met. This will cover the cost of living for our family of five when I am not earning wages for my work while completing my bachelor's degree studies.

Long Term Goal:
As for my long-term goal, I will finish my Associate's Degree at the end of this term and directly pursue my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or E.C.E. First; I must select an accredited University that offers state licensure of Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. I have had two interviews so far. Unfortunately, Rasmussen is not accredited in this area, so I need to find another school to finish my degree. Next, I will enroll, complete the 90 credits of course work, fieldwork, observation hours, and student teaching. In the end, my long-term goal is to earn my bachelor's and teach in the public school system here in Illinois. I have been a childcare provider my entire adult life to describe my strengths. I have had positions as a nanny, instructor, and DCFS licensed home childcare owner. I love assisting people, making them comfortable, educating them, and building rapport with them.

I will know my degree has been accomplished when I have my final invoice from the University and my diploma in hand. In addition, I will then be open to additional future career possibilities with my E.C.E. teaching license. Next, I will enrich my resume with my new credential and apply for employment. I will stay abreast of my field with annual continuing education hours to maintain my teaching license. This will be accomplished through additional workshops and Graduate School coursework. I'll know it's accomplished when I have attended the required total hours for my teaching license each year.

Define Success in my Career:
My main goal through pursuing advanced schooling is to provide a better experience for the children I care for. This will be accomplished when children develop, learn, and grow faster due to my increased ability to teach them. This is how I define success; I enjoy teaching and observing children's transformation when learning. My value in my impact within the classroom is what drives me and where I'm truly happiest. If one child learns each day, then I have a successful career and have impacted the future of our country.

My Professional Mission Statement: To impact the lives of every person I encounter and positively affect their future.
