About
I graduated High School with honors and within the top 10 of my class. At Rutgers University I studied Art History and Communication with a minor in Fine Arts. Undergraduate school was extremely difficult as a first generation student and I didn’t know what I wanted to pursue. My first two years of college I focused on exploring all different types of courses and found what I was passionate about.
I am pursuing a Master of Philosophy in Textile Conservation at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, starting in the fall of 2023. Textile Conservation is a field that focuses on the care and maintenance of textile objects to preserve them for future generations. This multidisciplinary subject requires technical skill, academic knowledge of multiple subjects and cultural awareness. This program is one of the most highly regarded program in the world and the only one located in the United Kingdom. The structure of the program includes both academic courses and professional training.
My academic interests, aptitude for sewing and art making, internship experiences, and future career aspirations have prepared me well for this program. Throughout my undergraduate education, I have studied a variety of subjects that offer me a foundation of knowledge applicable to my future career aspirations as a textile conservator. My education as an art history major and fine arts minor prepares me for my proposed studies, as I have already acquired a solid base to further research textile objects, have an enjoyment for sewing and hands-on work, and a curious mind with a love for learning. Furthermore, I have gained experience at two internships in New York City, where I learned a foundational skill set for my chosen field.
