About

Hi! My name is Ja’Naya Linder. I’m from Winston-Salem, NC, and I’m currently a student at Appalachian State University, where I compete as a collegiate Track & Field athlete and major in Political Science on the Pre-Law track. I’m the oldest of three siblings, which naturally put me in a leadership role early in life. I’ve often been the one others count on, especially during tough times, and that responsibility shaped who I am today.
Running became my escape and my outlet. It's helped me cope, stay focused, and eventually opened the door to college athletics. My major is deeply connected to my personal life. I’ve always found myself stepping in as a mediator in family situations, and now I want to turn those skills into something bigger.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I plan to become a family lawyer so I can advocate for children and support families who need someone in their corner.

Outside the classroom

In my free time, I love to dance, sketch fashion designs, and read books or articles—especially those about local crime or politics. I also enjoy reading God-led and faith-filled books that strengthen my relationship with God and help guide my everyday life. These activities keep me inspired and grounded in both creativity and faith.

Volunteering

  • At my church, I serve in a volunteer role helping prepare and distribute meals to members of the community in need. This role has taught me the value of service, compassion, and consistency, and it’s one way I stay connected to giving back and supporting others
