Goals and interests
- Career goal
Professional researcher, scientist and/or plant pathologist involved in crop production and disease management projects.
- Graduate school interests
My MS research dealt with aflatoxin management in peanuts. This involved phenotyping of drought tolerance in different peanut varieties, genotyping of possible drought-tolerant peanut varieties, strain-typing of Aspergillus section Flavi species, use of immunochromatographic test strips in the qualitative detection of aflatoxin, and effect of sampling size in aflatoxin quantification.
In addition, my interest also lies in the management of fungal diseases in major agricultural crops. I am currently involved on different projects regarding the evaluation of different chemicals (fungicides) in the management of target spot (Corynespora casiicola) in cotton.
My goal is to take a PhD that would deepen my knowledge in regards to these areas.
- Outside the classroom
I love travelling and visiting places. I also play tennis, table tennis and badminton.
