About
Your choice of your career path is important and it is the foundation of your life goals. Being passionate to me means that you’re preferences or interests are focus around the career of your choice. For instance, I’m a double major; majoring in psychology and sociology. I am also the ICWA Family Caseworker for the Native Village of Point Hope. A week ago I received a certificate for completing ICWA II Training. I am very passionate about the field that I am working in and the degrees that I am working towards. I also enjoy writing which is one of my hobbies that has been very useful in high school and in college. My interests focus around my career goals, and that is to help children and families. Back in 2016 I was the assistant family caseworker and as of May 13, 2021 I became the family caseworker for my community. It’s an honor and a blessing to serve for my people and help those in need. I am gaining the knowledge and experience by completing all the courses that are required for my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology. It would be an honor to receive a scholarship from your organization. Core values. I’d have to say my cultural core values. I come from a very traditional Inupiaq culture, and I am proud to say that I am a Tikigaqmuit from the Unasiksiqaaq and also the Qagmaktuut clan. I have the blood of my ancestors, very strong Chiefs of our Land. My great grandpa was the last remaining chief of Point Hope, Attanauraq. He was the greatest hunter, and wisest person that I knew that roamed around and claimed Tikigaq as his home. We’re very fortunate and blessed to come from a whaling community. We’re the longest continuously inhabited place in America, and I am proud to be from Point Hope. We’re a very tight knitted community, we honor, respect and praise our Lord and we were raised to honor and respect our elders as well as our community. I am proud to be an Inupiaq.
