About

I am a Social Work major in the professional sequence to acquire by BA in Social Behavioral Science. I am a Leadership Society member and a Multiple scholarship recipient in the last five years of my academic career. I currently work as Program Manager of a fifteen bedroom sober-living environment for men who are trying to transition from an institutional setting to becoming productive members in society. I have a sincere compassion to help and advocate for any population that is being oppressed by socioeconomic factors. I look forward to becoming a link in the chain of service to help people develop the self-determination to succeed on their own.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My intended job path is in the direction of a Behavioral Health agency working in substance abuse treatment and providing case management as well as advocating for the mental health population in various ways to help establish independence. I personally have recognized some serious barriers between people who struggle with mental illness and the opportunity for treatment that need attention. This is something that weighs heavy on my heart and has built a fire inside me to keep pushing forward to be licensed as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

Graduate school interests

After I acquire my BA in Social Work I plan to move forward with the one year MSW- Master in Social Work Program at California State University of Chico. I already have a thesis in mind for my master's program concerning innovative modality. This is the implementation of fitness into recovery from substance abuse addicton as well as mental illness.

Outside the classroom

I really enjoy working out and staying fit. I lift weights five days a week and cross-fit train three days a week. I like playing with my American Red Nose Pit bull named "Rocky" and working with people to solve personal problems. Mountain biking and running through our town's beautiful Bidwell Park is another escape for self care I enjoy.
