Foreman arborist/ climber at San Bernardino, CA I have 7 years’ experience working in the electric utility industry performing Vegetation Management. I am competent in running a 2–5-man crew in the performance of vegetation management to comply with electrical power line clearance specifications. I constructed and oftentimes oversaw the composition of a Job Safety Analysis and Emergency Action plan prior to starting work. I am proficient in assembling and maintaining a safe and secure job-site setup and enhancing field safety in accordance with ANZI Z133 safety standards, OSHA 29 CFR 1910, and the SCE Contractor Hazard Assessment and Safety Plan (HASP). With a Class B license, I was responsible for inspecting, driving, and operating an aerial lift truck with chipper attachment while performing vegetation management near live utility lines. I was responsible for effectively identifying basic electrical systems, components, and hardware in order to safely avoid electrical contact by determining the Minimum Approach Distance in relation to high voltage power lines. I executed tree climbing operations using either SRT or MRS techniques in the performance of tree trimming and tree removal in high fire areas. I set up and safely operated rigging systems for tree trimming and tree removal while considering the Safe Working Load (SWL), Weight Load Limit (WLL), and safe bend ratios for rigging equipment. Part of my duties was being proficient in tying, dressing, and setting the various knots and hitches used in arboriculture tree work. I was also tasked in performing tree felling operations which included determining the best possible drop zone, face-cut, back-cut, and holding wood, as well as ensuring that the drop zone was clearly marked and secure. As a Foreman, my duties were to perform tree risk assessments prior to engaging with work to ensure the safety of myself and my crew members. This includes the ability to effectively identify tree genus and specific epithet in relation to site and environmental factors and physiological concerns. I performed and effectively ensured quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) for vegetation management near power lines while conducting circuit interruption reviews. I was regularly faced with obstacles and concerns when performing tree work which has helped to enhance my collaboration and problem-solving skills. I am seasoned in responding to storm and emergency restoration activities in a timely manner while working in inclement weather patterns. I interfaced and collaborated with others both within the work environment and when interacting with clients to address customers’ needs and concerns.
