About
Jenna R. Barger, EIT is a senior electrical engineering student at WSU Tri-Cities. Jenna completed her associate’s degree in science at Columbia Basin College as a Running Start student in June 2023, and she will be graduating with her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a minor in mathematics in May 2026. She works at Cadwell Industries—an electrical engineering firm that designs, sells, and fixes special-case medical diagnostic equipment—as a service department intern. Soldering, problem-solving, and documentation is a major part of her job on a daily basis. Jenna also has extensive research, designing, planning, and technical writing abilities due to her involvement in both the Mid-Columbia Science Fair (MCSF) and Washington State Science and Engineering Fair (WSSEF) in 2019-2021 for her physics and engineering projects: “Frequencies Surrounding a Black Hole”. Her leadership, planning, and critical thinking skills were prominent in both her Final Ethics Group Project and her Senior Design (Capstone) Project part of her bachelor's degree. Her future plans include attending Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) in August 2026 to research electromagnetics and photonics.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
Electrical Engineering, theoretical and applicational research, electromagnetics and photonics.
- Graduate school interests
I am set to start my graduate program (Master's and P.h.D) at Florida Institute of Technology in the Fall 2026 semester. I will be pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering with a research focus in electromagnetics and photonics. I will be pursuing a M.S. (thesis track).
- Outside the classroom
In my free time, I play Bassoon (11+ yrs of musical experience through Clarinet and Bassoon) for the CBC Band, which is a community band in the Tri-Cities. In High School, I performed in the Mid-Columbia Youth Symphony where I played highly technical classical pieces while simultaneously performing in school symphonic band and wind ensemble. Now, I play for fun through the CBC Band.
I enjoy creative writing. I've always had a knack for creativity and story-telling, it became a good way for me to deal with hardship and friendship drama. It's a quiet hobby that not very many people know about.
