Jenna Boitnotte

I, Jenna Boitnotte, am applying for this scholarship to help lessen the burden on my parents’ finances. Over the last few years, we have faced many hardships and deaths. Most children lose their grandparents in their 20’s. I lost 4 before the age of 16. My uncle was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in May of 2024, and my grandfather was diagnosed with bladder cancer in April 2024 (whom we lost in March 2025). Both of my parents have given so much time and
money to help their families. I have taken on many responsibilities around the house that
not only included normal house cleaning but shopping, taking the trash to the dump, helping with my uncle, running errands, gathering fire wood for my grandmother and doing things as my parents requested. My grandmother who passed away in 2021 from COVID was a Psychiatric Nurse at the Veterans of AAairs Hospital in Salem. I learned my passion
for wanting to help take care of others from her. She was always devoted and kind. I have been accepted into the Pre-Licensure Nursing BSN program at Radford University. I have been taking Nursing Aid I and Nursing Aid II through Botetourt Technical School. This semester, we are doing clinicals at the Glebe and the Carrington Place. This experience has shown me the various needs of patients, caretakers and facilities. Witnessing the
good and bad has opened my eyes even more to show we need more health care workers that enjoy their job and are dedicated to the patients. This scholarship will help me obtain my dream job of being an RN-BSN and giving back to the community that has always been there for me and my family.
