JOEL ALABI

Passionate animal scientist with over 10 years’ experience in sustainable livestock production. My research endeavors have explored various facets of animal health, particularly nutritional interventions involving feed additives, enzymes, essential oils, and phytobiotics to enhance feed utilization efficiency and bolster immune system functions, ultimately leading to improved yields. Moreover, I am deeply committed to contributing to global food security while minimizing greenhouse emissions as a climate change mitigation approach. Previously, I have studied the influence of Threonine on nutrient transporter and immunity-related genes in broiler chickens. Currently, I aspire to delve deeper into applying multi-omics approach and bioinformatics to understand the mechanisms and functional pathways for feed efficiency, greenhouse gases production, and immune system of beef and dairy cattle. In addition, my teaching and mentoring experiences with high school, undergraduate and graduate students underline my dedication to nurturing the next generation of agricultural leaders.
