About

My name is Johana Luxin, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at Walden University. My passion for helping others and advocating for mental health began after completing my bachelor’s degree in 2019, when I realized how deeply I valued understanding and supporting emotional well-being. Coming from Haiti, a culture where mental health is often stigmatized, I was inspired to help bridge that gap by educating and empowering others to view mental health as an essential part of overall wellness—not as a sign of weakness.

I currently work at a rehabilitation facility, supporting individuals with addiction and co-occurring mental health challenges. My long-term goals include establishing a private practice, becoming a qualified supervisor, and eventually teaching or conducting research to help shape future counselors. I’m passionate about fostering awareness, promoting cultural understanding, and helping both clients and future professionals overcome barriers like imposter syndrome while embracing the transformative power of mental health care.
