John Ortiz

Greetings. My name is John Paul Ortiz. I am a high school senior student from C.E. King High School who desires the ability to attend the Art Institute of Houston to study graphic design so I can become a future videogame designer or University of Houston to study graphic design.
At the age of 4, I entered kindergarten in primary school. During my stay at this primary school and all the way up till today as a high-school student, I have learned many things, but especially thanks to my mother who has worked very hard to keep our home and educate her students as a teacher herself. Today, I had the opportunity to reflect on the things that I have seen my mother do, ever since I was a child that I could not understand, such as repairing motor vehicles to earn money, or changing the wood of the house to assure a safe roof for me. But I have also seen her greatness in not giving up and continuing to study for years to get ahead and to give me the best values. Although we have gone through many needs and many sacrifices without being able to travel or pay for any repair or maintenance of the house, I realized that it has been because the salary that my mother earns, that she was able to pay for the needs of a small family and the rent of the house to avoid losing them.
For this reason, my family is not a very wealthy one, so additional money from scholarships can help me achieve my dreams of a good education and reach my goal to be successful in my future life and continue being a role model to other students like me who grew up in poverty. I’m applying for as many scholarships as I possibly can so I can have the wealth to afford my admission and tuition to the art institute, to pay off any additional fees, to acquire the study books I require, and to be able to transport myself to and around the institute or University of Houston.
