About
I am an undergraduate student at the University of Houston-Downtown, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in History within the Humanities and Social Sciences discipline. With a 3.8 GPA, I am committed to academic excellence and continuous learning. My dedication to scholarship has earned me membership in Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), and the Honor Society.
Beyond my academic achievements, I bring 30 years of professional experience in the Oil and Gas industry, where I have developed leadership, problem-solving, and adaptability skills. While my career has been rooted in a technical field, my passion for history and education has remained constant. I believe that understanding history is crucial in shaping decision-making, policy, and societal progress, and I strive to contribute to a more inclusive and accurate representation of historical narratives.
My ultimate goal is to pursue a master’s degree and potentially a doctorate, allowing me to transition into academia as a professor at a four-year university after retiring from the Oil and Gas industry. I am particularly interested in teaching history in a way that resonates with students from diverse backgrounds, helping them understand the relevance of historical events to their lives and aspirations.
Through my academic journey and professional experiences, I aim to bridge the gap between historical knowledge and real-world applications, ensuring that future generations appreciate the impact of history on industries, economies, and cultural evolution. I am honored to be a part of the Honor Society and look forward to contributing to its mission of leadership, excellence, and lifelong learning.
