About

I became an applicant for the Applied Technical Management program with the intent to eventually transfer to Valdosta State University. Fortunately, because of Athens Technical College, part of my goal has become a reality. I am a current college student with 98 credits towards an undergraduate degree in Organizational Leadership. This undergraduate program will translate into economic self-sufficiency by allowing me to implement the skill set needed to reach my long-term career goals of becoming a salon leader, a teacher, and a nonprofit organizer.

Outside the classroom

My love for the art of cosmetology has motivated me to open my own nonprofit, which would also allow me to one day give back to the community. In my desire to give back to the community, I inquired about some of the outreach programs at Athens Technical College. The Cosmetology Program students had the privilege to volunteer with the local Mount Zion Baptist Church for an event called “Feeding the Hungry”. For four years, I have provided haircuts, beard trims, and other cosmetology services for elderly clients, disabled children, and needy people throughout the community. I have volunteered as needed from 2014 through 2018 in the Adult Education Department and the Cosmetology Division on the Walton County Campus. I am a member of the Future Beauty Professionals of Athens Technical College organization.
