About

In the winter of 2022, I lost my ability to walk due to an life-threatening illness. I was unable to eat, sleep, or walk and the doctors were unable to figure out what was wrong with me. I lost everything. My home, my health, my dignity. Eventually, after sleeping in the car for six months I was able to rehabilitate myself. During this time I had to reevaluate who I was and what I wanted for my life. I felt regret and I wondered where it was coming from. These flickers of dreams were slowly fading and all I wanted was another chance. Over the next years time, the pain in my stomach began to subside. I enrolled into college excited about the future and began sharing my story with students. I'm now a leader in my community that people go to for advice. I'm utterly grateful for the opportunity to be here today and share this story with you. Sincerely, Joseph Sabio.
