About
My name is Joshua Heathcock and I am a student at Southern University and A&M College. I currently work as an NDT technician for Fairbanks Inspection and Testing and have worked in the manufacturing industry as a welder and a machinist. I started my school work while still in the military and have just recently attended a university for the first time. I want to major in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Welding Engineering so that I can use my practical experience as well as my educational experience to influence my career.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
After graduating, I intend to work in the manufacturing, aeronautic, or military-contractor industry using the skills I have acquired as an NDT/CWI as well as the knowledge gained from my time in higher education. I hope to gain further experience in the industry and, in the future, start my own engineering firm.
- Graduate school interests
I do not immediately plan on going to grad school after I complete my bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. I instead plan on going to Southeastern University to take advantage of their Welding Engineering program in order to specialize in the manufacturing industry.
- Outside the classroom
I enjoy many hobbies in my down time. I have worked as a welder and machinist and I enjoy doing side jobs in my free time, as well as a bit of amateur blacksmithing. I also exercise daily and the routine I use changes from day to day to focus on an overall level of physical fitness rather than focusing on a specific area. I also enjoy fishing and boating and, when I do not have the time to do any of these outdoor/hands-on activities, I enjoy reading and playing video games.
