About

My undergrad was a music degree teaching secondary education as a choir teacher. I love teaching music for its therapeutic power and cognitive influence on the brain. After teaching public school for a little while I decided I wanted to dig deeper in my therapeutic teaching and become a social worker that could learn what it takes to heal for those who have experienced life long struggles of abuse, neglect, addiction, and traumatic experiences and so on. Through social work I plan to make my print in the community helping populations that are struggling to get their needs met.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I plan to graduate with my masters in social work and continue to be a benefit to my community through many forms of community work. One form is through group therapy work in addiction recovery. Another form is individual therapy at a private practice. Also I would like to create programs that assist populations who struggle such as the elderly or deaf community.

Graduate school interests

I am fascinated by the different modalities of therapy that have been proven to help people recover from their struggles. I love learning about social policy and how social movements can make a large impact on societies. I want to be on a team of community members that are making a difference for struggling populations.

Outside the classroom

Raising 3 children, singing, studying ASL, physical exercise, healthy cooking, snowboarding, dancing, quilting.
