About

My love for all people and justice inspires me!I am Joyce S. Powell. I currently have been residing in Chapel Hill, NC for the last twelve years. I was born in Enfield NC, but left three years after I was born and moved with my family to Ludwigsburg, West Germany. After returning to the US, my mother along with my sibling and I, spent a majority of our lives in Rocky Mount NC while my father continued to serve in the U.S. Army for twenty-six years. I have lived in two other states besides NC. They were Alabama and NY. I am the mother of three children whom I love dearly. One was killed within in the last two in a fatal pedestrian incident in Chapel. He was nineteen at the time of his death. I have a daughter who is eighteen, and a twelve year old son living at home now. I value education and have used it to lift myself and my family out of poverty, with the help of many others. My major is Criminal Justice with a concentration in Law Enforcement. I am looking forward to applying to NCCU’s School of Law upon my graduation from the Criminal Justice program at NCCU.
