About

As an adult learner and a first-generation college student, my journey towards becoming an advanced healthcare educator takes on a unique and inspiring dimension. Starting with an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Paramedicine in 2016, I navigated the challenges of education while balancing real-world responsibilities. This foundational step not only equipped me with critical emergency medical skills but also highlighted my resilience and adaptability as an adult learner. Subsequent achievements, including an AAS in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Health Science in 2023, showcase a deliberate academic progression. As a first-generation college student, each milestone is a testament to my determination to break barriers and pave the way for future generations. Professional roles as a Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic and a Paramedic Education Program Director underscore my commitment to hands-on experience and leadership in healthcare education. Mentorship roles as a preceptor and Field Training Officer highlight my dedication to guiding others, reflecting the unique perspective of an adult learner navigating the educational landscape for the first time. These experiences, coupled with my earned accolades, contribute to a narrative that combines academic excellence, real-world application, and a pioneering spirit as I strive to become an impactful healthcare educator.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I aspire to leverage my diverse healthcare background, including an AAS in Paramedicine, AAS in Nursing, and a BS in Health Science, to secure a role as an advanced healthcare educator. Drawing on my experience as a Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic and Paramedic Education Program Director, I aim to contribute to the development of future healthcare professionals by providing comprehensive and practical education. As an adult learner and first-generation college student, my unique journey enhances my ability to inspire and guide students on their own paths to success in the healthcare field.

Graduate school interests

My interest in Arizona State University's MSN in Nursing Education stems from its esteemed reputation and comprehensive curriculum, aligning perfectly with my goal to advance my expertise in healthcare education. The program's emphasis on preparing healthcare educators and leaders resonates with my professional journey as a first-generation college student and adult learner. ASU's commitment to innovation and excellence in nursing education makes it the ideal institution for me to further enhance my skills and contribute meaningfully to shaping the future of healthcare education.

Outside the classroom

When I am not working or studying, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I have two dogs and two cats, all of whom keep me on my toes. I enjoy spending time outdoors, and I can be found hiking with my dogs or kayaking when the weather permits. I enjoy visiting some of New Jersey's local wineries and breweries with my friends, and belong to a wonderful group of like-minded women known as Girls' Pint Out. I sing in a semi-professional group chorus and have been fortunate enough to tour throughout the United States and Ireland. I am looking forward to enjoying what 2024 has in store for me as I begin my Masters studies.
