About

I have always had a passion for helping people and working with children. So when I began my career as a developmental specialist helping children birth to three years old with developmental delays or medical conditions I knew I had found my passion. While working with these families over the years I knew there was one thing missing for them. This is was the emotional support for the parents of the child with a disability or medical condition. Even though we support the whole family, I could tell the parent's needed more and this is what drew me to want to become a counselor. I knew I still wanted to support the children but have more support that I could offer to the parents. After getting married and having two children the desire to support these families continued to grow. This is when I decided to go back to school and get my masters in Professional Counseling with an Emphasis in Childhood and Adolescents Disorders. Through working a full time job as a developmental specialist and a part time job supporting a non-profit organization that provides respite care for children with disabilities or that are in the foster care system I maintained a 4.0 GPA with Grand Canyon University. I plan to really support children and families with this degree and plan to also get my addictions certificate as well to also support children and adolescents who turn to substances at a young age.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I intend to take this degree and really support children and adolescents with disorders. Working with children is my passion. As I start my career I pray I can make a difference early enough in their life to set them on the right track so that I can help prevent them from making choices such as turning to substance use. This is why I also plan to get my addictions certificate so that I can also support adolescents who have turned to substance use and get them on a better path.

Outside the classroom

I love to go camping with my family. I have started hunting with my husband and have found it very exciting and challenging as well. Any time exploring something new with my kids fills my heart.
