About

A little educational summary about myself:
I am currently a Senior at Western Kentucky University studying Anthropology as a major and Studio Art as a minor. My concentrations are Archaeology and Cultural Resource Management. I started out my college career wanting to be a large and small animal Veterinarian. Majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry, I learned after a year that I really disliked Biology. Sure, the lab of dissection was fun, but the lectures were utterly boring to me. I tried to compromise and tell myself, "Well, a veterinary technician would be an alright job." However after a semester of that running through my mind, I decided I was done settling for "an alright job." I enjoyed Biological Anthropology when I took the class as an elective, so I went out on a limb and changed my major to Anthropology. After yet another semester of boring Chemistry classes, I went out on another limb and changed my minor to Studio Art. I've always been good at art so I thought, "what's the worst that could happen?" Spring semester of 2014 turned out to be my best semester so far at Western Kentucky. I absolutely loved my classes, I actually like the textbooks I'm required to have, I'm actually making A's now, and I actually have friends in my classes. While being a Biology and Chemistry student, I didn't have friends in my classes. I just didn't click with them. It wasn't my niche. Anthropology, Archaeology, CRM classes, and Art are my niches. It's as if I belong there; as if it's meant to be.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My career of choice is a Historical Archaeologist as well as a professor at a University. I enjoy the classroom and college students who are eager to learn more about the historical aspect of archaeology as well as learning the process archaeologists take to complete field work.

Graduate school interests

As of right now and that I know of, the only Grad School available close to me with Anthropology as a program is University of Tennessee at Knoxville (which would be an amazing opportunity to attend school).

Outside the classroom

Quilting
Drawing
Painting
Anything that has to do with creativity- it's hard to narrow is down to one specific idea
Reading
Writing - short stories, memoirs, (basically anything that comes to my mind)
I also like collecting fabric. It seems sort of ridiculous, when I look at my collection of the different patterns, colors, styles etc. However, I use the fabric to quilt, to create canvases of fabric instead of paint, and anything thing else creative I think of.
