About

I am currently a freshman at the College of Charleston and being from a family that is not college educated, I sought out to be a college student who would commit to myself in the foundations of continuing my education.
I have found significant struggles and various financial challenges that could potentially impact my future education, and this scares me. I am looking for a way to take the opportunities in my studies that are presented to me and make the most of them, with this I need financial help.
Juggling the costs of textbooks, tuition, and living expenses have proven more than I imagined as a new freshman, and this worry has impacted me daily. I am on my own with almost no help from my immediate family.
If I were awarded this scholarship, it would help lessen some of the burden and would allow me to dedicate myself to my studies without the pressure of monetary challenges.
Since attending CofC, I have committed to the culture, aiming to get the most out of the opportunity that has been provided to me. I am a member of Sigma Kappa, which is an additional commitment to the community and my school, all while maintaining a 3.0 GPA and being selected for honor society. I have also obtained a job to help with some of my personal expenses.
This scholarship would allow me to consider more of my educational goals at CofC, and to seek out and obtain the coursework and materials those goals require.
